How Gypsum Retarders Work
Anhydrite and hemihydrate gypsum hydrate rapidly when mixed with water to form dihydrate gypsum crystals, leading to fast hardening that shortens available construction time. Retarders adsorb onto gypsum crystal surfaces to slow crystal formation and extend the workable time of gypsum slurry. High-quality retarders barely impair the strength, whiteness, and fire resistance of finished gypsum products, while simultaneously improving the workability of the slurry. Common categories of gypsum retarders include protein-based retarders, citric acid, tartaric acid, and composite high-efficiency retarders.
Hydrolyzed protein polypeptides encapsulate gypsum particles with a colloidal film, inhibiting the nucleation and growth of dihydrate gypsum crystals. Citric acid binds calcium ions to form insoluble salts, which strongly blocks hydration and disrupts gypsum crystal structures.- Phosphates form calcium salt layers on gypsum particle surfaces to halt the hydration process.
A core advantage of vegetable protein retarders is that they only act through mild physical coating, without damaging the original crystal structure of gypsum.
GUUDPOLY® Protein based Gypsum Retarder is Biodegradable materials. And it supply excellent prolonged setting time with none impact on gypsum strength.
GUUDPOLY® Redispersible Polymer Powder improves adhesion strength, compressive strength, flexural strength, and waterproof performance.
GOODCEL® Cellulose Ether effectively solves the water bleeding issue of fresh mortar and ensures stable mortar performance.
GUUDPOLY® Superplasticizer greatly reduces water consumption, improves the flowability of fresh mortar, and enhances the bonding strength of mortar.
GUUDPOLY® Water Repellent can effectively enhance the stain resistance and waterproof performance of gypsum surfaces, and reduce water absorption.
Gypsum Plasters & Plaster of Paris
Gypsum mortar is around 50% lighter in weight than cement mortar. It can be applied in a single thick coat of 1~3cm without layered thin plastering. It boasts excellent workability and self-leveling performance with smooth slurry, delivering highly flat wall surfaces and requiring less sanding work. Its setting time is adjustable, and curing proceeds quickly. When mixed with vegetable protein retarders, its working time can be flexibly controlled. It hardens at a moderate pace, allowing subsequent construction procedures to start shortly after application and greatly shortening the overall decoration cycle. Gypsum mortar features minimal shrinkage and rarely develops drying cracks.
Gypsum Mortar mainly include Lightweight plaster gypsum, High-strength anti-crack plaster gypsum, Gypsum Self-Leveling Mortar, Repair-Specific Gypsum Mortar etc.
Lightweight plaster gypsum: For full interior wall leveling and skimming. It is lightweight and crack-resistant, and compatible with all indoor wall substrates.
High-strength anti-crack plaster gypsum: Reinforced with glass fiber for higher hardness, ideal for high-rise large-area walls and joints of prefabricated wall panels.
Gypsum Self-Leveling Mortar: Specially designed for floors. It flows automatically to form flat base layers before laying wood or PVC flooring, featuring superior flatness, low shrinkage and crack-free performance compared with cement self-leveling.
Repair-Specific Gypsum Mortar: Fast-setting formula for quick repairs of wall holes, wire grooves and damaged indentations. It sets rapidly and is easy to sand.
